Larry Engel

Larry Engel, a member of the DGA and WGAE and a Daytime Emmy® award-winning filmmaker, is in his fifth decade of filmmaking that spans all seven continents and has worked on over 300 projects worldwide. Engel is a professor at American University’s School of Communication, the director of the Film and Media Arts division, and associate director of the Center for Environmental Filmmaking. He is a co-author of the first Code of Best Practices for Sustainable Filmmaking (2009). In pursuit of environmental and science stories, Engel has flown into hurricanes, been chased by tornadoes, and dropped into ice caves. He’s fled wildfires, gotten lost in jungles, and overheated in Antarctica.
