NATIONAL FILM INSTITUTE JOS, NIGERIA

The National Film Institute (NFI) located in Jos, Plateau State of Nigeria was established in accordance with the provision of the National Film Policy (1992) and the Decree No. 61 of (1979) setting up the Nigerian Film Corporation. The Institute is designed and equipped to provide training of specialized manpower needs of the film industry.

The National Film Institute, established by the Nigerian Film Corporation started its film training with the four weeks’ Certificate Program in 1995. The Diploma Program was introduced in 1997 at the NFI and was affiliated to the University of Ibadan from 1997-2004. In 2003 the Degree program commenced in affiliation with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) up until 2008. Presently for its Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees NFI is affiliated to the Department of Theatre and Film Arts, University of Jos, and accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), while the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accredited the Diploma Program.

Nnenna Eucharia

A distinguished film educator and practitioner, Acting Rector (since 2024) Nnenna Eucharia has dedicated over two decades to the National Film Institute, Jos. She has obtained qualifications from University of Port Harcourt, University of Jos, and Germany's Goethe Institute and has coordinated numerous workshops, supervised 200+ student projects, published research papers on Nigerian cinema, women's representation and makeup principles. Notable productions include directing "Naome" (2023), “Salome” (2019), "You Can Change Their Lives" (2018) and producing "Inspector and the Hero" (1999). She has an Icon of Education and Five-Star Aluta General for exceptional service to Nigerian film industry as well as NANS for leadership in film education and human development.
